My name is Amir. In my spare time I collect and restore old bikes.
I’ve been a bike rider since 1974 when I bought my first really good bike, a Follis 472.
It came with a lightweight plastic saddle that I replaced with an Ideale 90.
One season and several thousand miles later it took the shape of my rump and has been comfortable ever since.
It is the only item in my collection that has been in regular use since the 70’s.
For a while I was infatuated by the beautiful saddles of the 40’s and 50’s, the “Golden Age of Classic Lightweights”.
Thanks to ebay and the internet, I was able to collect photos of old saddles to my heart’s content.
This website is dedicated to those saddles.
In order to make this site truly useful, I need your help.
If you see an error or omission, please let me know.
If you have old catalogs, brochures or advertisements, please send me scans.
If you were involved in the bicycle saddle business, in any way, please drop me a line.
And, if you own a saddle that deserves recognition, send me photos and I’ll post them on this site.
my email is firstname.lastname@example.org
This site has been in the back of my mind for years. Below are some things that I did in the meantime.
